Manchester United round-up: Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang targeted; £52m Alvaro Morata bid rejected; De Gea going nowhere

The Mirror have sensationally claimed that Manchester United are tracking Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and could even make a move this summer to bring the Gabon international to Old Trafford as one of their marquee signings.

With 40 goals in 46 games this season, it is clear to see why the Red Devils would want to sign the striker, who has repeatedly drop hints that his future may not lie in Germany. With a five year offer said to be on the table, the 27-year-old could fill the role of Mourinho’s top transfer target.

Another option may be Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, as Sky in Italy report that the Spanish club have rejected an offer worth £52 million for the forward. Morata re-joined the club last summer after a spell at Juventus, but has failed to nail down a first team place under Zinedine Zidane.

Despite only making 19 starts, Morata still managed to score 20 goals this season and could now re-unite with the manager who first gave him an opportunity in Madrid in Jose Mourinho, who gave the now 24-year-old his debut in an 8-0 Copa del Rey win over Levante in 2010.

Morata could have seen himself involved in negotiations for David de Gea, but Spanish newspaper Marca now claim that the Champions League winners have given up any hopes of signing the Spanish number one and are now content to stick with current first choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas, after his improvement in form towards the end of the season.

Florentino Perez and co. were thought to be keen to sign the former Atlético shot stopper, particularly since 2015, when a late fax meant that a completed deal missed the transfer deadline, but it now seems that any deal could be off this summer with Zinedine Zidane confident that Navas is up to scratch.
