Another summer deal is set to be announced within days, as Sky Sports report that Manchester United are edging nearer to sealing an agreement with Inter Milan for Croatian winger Ivan Perisic. Jose Mourinho refused to go into detail on any potential switch after the club’s pre-season friendly win over Real Salt Lake, but it seems it could be near completion.

Perisic is hoping to avoid having to travel to China with the Inter Milan squad for their pre-season tour but that could be dependent upon Manchester United agreeing to meet the San Siro club’s £48 million valuation. The Italians have also enquired about the possibility of including Anthony Martial in the deal, according to Sky in Italy, who are referenced by Sky Sports.

However, the Red Devils have been priced out of a move for another potential target in Barcelona forward Neymar, say Spanish newspaper Marca. Reports claim that Ernesto Valverde’s club told United that Neymar would only be allowed to leave if his release clause, which currently stands at €220 million (£195 million), was activated.

That will increase by a further £25 million next summer due to a clause in the Brazilian’s contract, but speculation persists that French giants Paris Saint-Germain are looking to pay the release clause and sign the 25-year-old as soon as possible. Whether he is prepared to consider a move may be a different matter.

Another player whose club are reluctant to allow him to leave is Naby Keita, Red Bull Leipzig’s midfield sensation. Now, Football Whispers say that United could emerge as a late challenge to Liverpool in attempting to sign the 22-year-old, despite Leipzig refusing to sell him so far this summer.

Keita would be an ideal candidate to fill in alongside Ander Herrera in midfield and has huge potential. However, it may be a much tougher and more expensive to bring the Guinean to Manchester as opposed to some of the alternatives such as Nemanja Matic, who is seeking an exit from Chelsea.
