Manchester United round-up: David De Gea wants out; Chelsea’s Willian tracked; praise for Marcus Rashford

The Daily Mail claim that David de Gea has informed Manchester United that he wants to move to Real Madrid if they come calling in the summer and will be hugely upset if the club stand in his way after having allowed him to leave two years ago only for the move to collapse at the final moment.

The Spaniard could return to the city where he made his name with Atletico Madrid but United will understandably be hugely reluctant to allow him to leave Manchester given his importance to the side and what an influential figure he has become in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the future.

Mourinho’s plans could also incorporate one of his former players, say the Daily Star, as they claim that the former Chelsea boss is keeping an eye on the situation of the Brazilian as he grows frustrated over his lack of game time having fallen out of favour behind Pedro in the Chelsea attack.

The winger played 24 minutes as a substitute for the Blues when they were beaten by the Red Devils as the home side stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 22 games, the longest run in Europe.

Willian could join fellow striker Marcus Rashford in attack at Old Trafford, and the England international has been praised by team-mate Matteo Darmian after his influential display on Sunday against Chelsea. The Italian told the club website:

“Of course, he took his goal very well. Marcus is a great player and he’s still very, very young. I think he’s very important for us with his quality.

“He can be one of the top players, one of the most important players in the world, because he’s very good in every part of the game.

“He has a very good shot, good movement, speed and like a striker sometimes every ball that he touches he scores.”

The youngster has now scored two goals in two Premier League games after not having found the back of the net in months, but is finally showing his worth for the club with his goal scoring displays.
