The Manchester Evening News report that Player of the Season and reported Barcelona target Ander Herrera had decided that he will reject any approach from the Catalan giants in order to stay at Old Trafford for the 2017/18 season with an eye on competing for the Premier League and Champions League.
New Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is said to have made the midfielder one of his top targets, having been announced as manager on Monday, but he could be frustrated in his attempts to lure the tough midfielder in to a return to La Liga.
One player who may not have such a day over his future is Anthony Martial as the Independent claim that the Red Devils are ready to allow the Frenchman to leave after a disappointing second season in Manchester as Jose Mourinho has clearly not had faith in the left sided atracker this season.
The former Monaco man struggled for regular game time and it’s now expected that if the club are successful in their pursuit of reinforcements in that position, they will allow their marquee signing of 2015 to leave the club if a bid of appropriate value is made, though that value is not yet clear.
It is unlikely that any other players will be making the switch from Monaco to Old Trafford anytime soon, as the Express say that Manchester City are confident of securing a deal for Benjamin Mendy ahead of United, only days after they signed another Mourinho target in Bernardo Silva.
Mourinho is looking for improvements in defence and it now seems increasingly likely that a left-back will be a top priority with Luke Shaw likely to be sold to another Premier League club having made just one Premier League start since October 2016 in a frustrating campaign after missing much of last season through injury.
