As we approach the start of the 2017 summer transfer window, The Boot Room rounds-up the key Manchester United news dominating Wednesday’s back-pages.

Spanish newspaper Marca claim that Manchester United have made an offer worth £230,000 per week to French forward Antoine Griezmann in an attempt to convince him to make the move to Old Trafford this summer after hinting that he could consider an exit from Atletico Madrid.

A deal could depend upon victory in Wednesday night’s Europa League final against Ajax, which would guarantee a Champions League place for next season, but the striker’s latest hints in the media would appear to suggest that he is open to the idea of leaving his current club for a new adventure.

Another target is believed to be Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa as Italian newspaper Tuttosport have expanded on reports in The Sun, claiming that he was up for sale with United interested, by saying that Juventus are also tracking the Brazilian and could launch a summer bid.

The winger has been used sparingly this season as he faces tough competition on the wings, with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben usually first choice under Carlo Ancelotti at the Allianz Arena. Costa does have a sparkling record though and could bring his skills to the Premier League or Serie A.

That deal could be spurred on if the Red Devils miss out on Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez, according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, who, when speaking on Spanish television show El Chiringuito de Jugones, claimed that Chelsea have leapfrogged Jose Mourinho’s side in their pursuit of the Colombian, with an exit from the Bernabeu now inevitable.

These quotes have been reported by Spanish outlet Diario Madridista (okdiario.com) and can be heard in the video below.

The number 10 has grown unhappy under Zinedine Zidane and wants regular first team football elsewhere, but it is hard to imagine how he would fit into the current set-up at Chelsea, with question marks over whether Mourinho would want to sign the former Monaco star too.
