The Daily Mail have reacted to rumours linking Manchester United with a £55 million move for Manchester City hero Sergio Aguero by claiming that the Argentinean is not at all interested in a move from the blue half of the city to the red half of Manchester by switching to Old Trafford.
Both Manchester City and Aguero have rubbished any suggestions that they would even entertain the idea of such a deal, with Aguero not prepared to throw away his status as a fan favourite at the Etihad. That said, with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also interested, he is not short of suitors.
However, there could be another big summer move on the cards as Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Sky Sports that he thinks the Red Devils are leading the race for Real Madrid’s Colombian attacking midfielder James Rodriguez as he revealed:
“James is wanted by many teams in Europe, and for me Manchester United are the favourites to get him. His agent is Jorge Mendes who is very close to Jose Mourinho. He is the kind of player who instead of going to a club that is guaranteed to win the title next season, would be willing to help a team on the up.”
The star of the 2014 World Cup, Rodriguez has failed to nail down a regular starting position after three years at the Bernabeu and may now consider a move abroad in search of regular first team football after becoming a fixture in what the Spanish press have labelled Madrid’s B team.
Another summer addition could be Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to the Telegraph. The reports indicate that United are keeping an eye on the England youngster as a potential successor to David de Gea after his assured performances in a hopeless side who have already been relegated this season.
The 23-year-old would cost at least £17 million if the Black Cats are to part ways with their first choice ‘keeper but it seems likely that Pickford will be keen to leave the club in order to build on his progress this season with a move to another Premier League club in the summer.
