Yahoo Sport France exclusively claim that Antoine Griezmann has come to an agreement over personal terms ahead of a potential move to Manchester United in the summer, with the Red Devils likely to be forced to pay his £85 million release clause if they are to come to an agreement with Atlético Madrid.
Whilst the two clubs are not believed to have come to an agreement, it’s believed that Griezmann will match the wages of his close friend Paul Pogba on a remarkable £270,000 per week as Jose Mourinho sees him as the key to push United back into the top four next season.
A move for the Atlético striker could have implications for the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. That speculation was fuelled as the Mirror quote his agent Mino Raiola as telling Italian radio station CRC, as published by the Independent:
“As for Ibrahimovic, he’s always been in love with Naples and the passion of the Neapolitans and I’ve always said that openly because he grew up in a family which was similar to the Neapolitans and then with me. He knows what the love of the Neapolitans means and that passion has always attracted him. I know that [Napoli president Aurelio] De Laurentiis knows him, and with Zlatan you never know what could happen.”
Ibrahimovic had his contract extended only months after his arrival in Manchester, but with interest in Griezmann now hotting up it remains to be seen how the two would work together, meaning the Swede could make a surprise exit.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that the club were fighting until the very last minute to negotiate a deal for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, with the Eagles representatives talking to United staff on deadline day in England after completing a deal to sell Helder Costa to Wolves.
Whether these talks were serious or anywhere near close to a deal remains unclear but seems unlikely given the ongoing circus around a potential move for Lindelof earlier in the window.
