After weeks of speculation, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that a deal has been done to bring Ivan Perisic to Old Trafford for a fee believed to be in the region of £43 million. The Croatian has enjoyed two successful seasons at the San Siro but could now be sold to fund a squad rebuilding project.
The winger will bring pace and direct running to the United attack, with his drive exactly the kind of threat that Jose Mourinho’s side has been crying out for all season with goals hard to come by at times.
That could be helped by the addition of another striker as French newspaper L’Equipe say that they believe that Alexandre Lacazette would prefer a move to Manchester United over a transfer to Arsenal as rumours heat up that he is on his way out after several seasons as Lyon’s top scorer in Ligue Un.
Atletico Madrid could be the toughest competition for the Red Devils now with plenty of time left in the transfer window, but the French international could make an early move in order to give Lyon funds to replace him. With such a prolific record, he could be a superb substitute for other targets such as Antoine Griezmann.
That deal could also be affected by the fact that the Mirror indicate that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to put pen to paper on a contract extension to extend his stay in Manchester for another season as he seeks to overcome his devastating knee injury which put a disastrous end on a great debut season.
Still ending the season with an impressive 26 goals in all competitions, the 35-year-old may see his game time diminished if other targets are brought in this summer but undoubtedly has something to offer to Jose Mourinho and his club.
