The Daily Mail claim that Manchester United will complete their first signing of the transfer window next week. The deal will come in the form of the £35 million purchase of Benfica’s Victor Lindelof. The defender is currently on international duty with Sweden and is likely to complete the switch soon after United’s interest in January never saw a move materialise.
The move is likely to put an end to the Red Devils interest in former youth product Michael Keane. The Burnley star has been linked with a return to Old Trafford but these reports indicate that Jose Mourinho is only looking to spend big money on one central defender this summer.
Another signing could be Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, and the arrival of a new manager at the San Siro is only likely to encourage a deal. New boss Luciano Spalletti revealed in his press conference confirming his appointment that he would not stand in the Croatian’s way, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News he said:
“We shouldn’t convince anyone to stay at Inter. I am already convincing others to join Inter and that is the most we can aspire to do. If someone is not convinced, he is good to go and play where he feels more motivated.”
The 28-year-old could move to the Premier League as Spalletti looks to rebuild his squad with the funds from the sale of the former Wolfsburg winger. However, it remains to be seen if United will look to secure a deal for the attacking midfielder.
Another player who could be on the move is goalkeeper Joel Pereira as the Mirror claim that both Portuguese giants Benfica and Porto could move for the 20-year-old. Pereira impressed on his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2016/17 season.
It was his form for loan club Belenenses earlier in the season in the Portuguese Liga NOS which has attracted the attention and could see a return to his homeland. However, Pereira is reportedly keen to extend his current contract in Manchester with only one year left to run at present.
