Jose Mourinho could be set for a reunion with one of his former players as the Express claim that Manchester United have joined the race for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas alongside Liverpool and both Milan clubs, AC Milan and Inter Milan. It’s thought that the fee for the Spaniard would be around £30 million.
Fabregas has developed a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most reliable midfielders, currently standing second in the table for the most assists in the competition, but could leave Stamford Bridge to find regular first team football after making just ten starts for the Blues this season.
However, Mourinho is as strict as ever at Old Trafford and is not cutting his players any slack as Goal report that the manager has implemented a social media ban after growing concerned about the number of first team squad members frequently active and sharing information on their rehabilitation from injuries.
Mourinho wants to block all access to these accounts for his first team players in an attempt to avoid leaking information about potential team selection and injury news, whilst there have also been reports that he has grown frustrated with the distraction that it has provided for the likes of Paul Pogba.
One of those thought to have sparked the measure is Chris Smalling, who Sky Sports reports has re-joined the squad for training, alongside Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba in advance of the Europa League semi-final clash with Spanish side Celta Vigo on Thursday night.
The defensive trio will be welcomed back by Mourinho who had very few defensive options with the trio all sidelined alongside Marcos Rojo, leaving Michael Carrick, Matteo Darmien or Axel Tuanzabe as the only options in central defence if none of them are able to figure at Balaidos.
