Manchester United round-up: Tottenham ace linked; La Liga defender scouted; Mourinho blocks exit

Manchester United are interested in the potential signing of Tottenham and England ace Dele Alli, according to the Daily Mail. They say that the Red Devils are one of several interested parties monitoring developments as the ex-MK Dons player considers changing his agent amid growing discontent over wages at the club.

Chelsea and Manchester City are also named as tracking the situation, which could prove to be a sensational move. The midfielder has been one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League since he moved from League One to the top flight, but he could also be open to a move abroad.

At the other end of the scale, Spanish newspaper Superdeporte say that United have been scouting experienced defender Ezequiel Garay. The centre-back is international team-mates with Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero for Argentina, and was watched by both Carlos Ruiz, head of the club’s scouting in Spain and Javier Ribalta, chief scout, on Friday.

The former Benfica and Zenit St. Petersburg defender could be an experienced and cheap option if Jose Mourinho is looking to bolster his defence. That seems unlikely before the window shuts this month, but if any players were to leave the back line at Old Trafford, he may be a candidate to replace them.

United scouts could be back at Valencia’s Mestalla stadium sooner rather than later as the Daily Mail believe that 21-year-old midfielder Andreas Pereira could head there on loan. However, Jose Mourinho is not keen on allowing him to leave but has allowed the player to make the decision.

Mourinho believes that he can form part of the first team squad this campaign after being on loan at Granada last season and impressing in pre-season. Pereira faces a tough decision knowing that he won’t be first choice and may only come into the side if they progress in cup competitions.
