Manchester United could be ready to give up hope of landing James Maddison, with the midfielder set to sign a new contract with Leicester City.
According to reports from 90min.com, United expect Maddison to pen fresh terms with the Foxes.

United are in the hunt for another attacking midfielder despite the success of Bruno Fernandes so far. Along with Maddison, the Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Jack Grealish.
Both players are well-sought after in the Premier League and both would come at a cost to United.

However, it appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be ready to walk away from any Maddison deal. This, of course, would be excellent news for Leicester, who have been keen to keep their man all along.
Indeed, Brendan Rodgers recently claimed Maddison was happy at the club, with contract talks going well.
Moving on from Maddison
The reports here would lead you to the conclusion that United will indeed walk away from a deal. A new contract for Maddison only increases his value further.
United, then, won’t want to be held to ransom over the player so could well move on.

This could open the door further for Jack Grealish to head to Old Trafford, however. There seems to have been a bit of indecisiveness going on but this could well guide United to Villa Park.
A huge boost for Leicester, not the end of the world for United – TBR View
James Maddison penning a new deal at the King Power is brilliant news for Leicester City. They need all their best players to stay put and Maddison is certainly in that bracket.
For United, while it might be a blow, there’ll be others on the market. The aforementioned Grealish is one name, while they’ll have ample scouting teams watching around the world.
