Real Madrid are preparing to activate a clause in David de Gea’s contract which will allow him to leave Old Trafford for Spain for £43 million at any point within the first two years of his contract which he signed in September 2015, claim Sport. The 26-year-old came close to heading to the Bernabeu that summer, and could now complete a move.

The Spaniard had appeared to be happy in Manchester but this reported clause could now put that in jeopardy and Jose Mourinho may now have a task on his hands to persuade the goalkeeper to turn down any approaches from the Portuguese boss’ former employers.

Mourinho has already been busy preparing a move for Juventus’ in demand striker Paulo Dybala according to the Sun. The Argentinean hotshot has scored six goals in 17 games so far this season, but the 23-year-old is attracting interest from many of Europe’s top clubs including neighbours Manchester City.

Dybala is seen as a long term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic by Mourinho who is keen to add him as a statement signing this summer to show that his United team mean business and will make up for lost ground with a serious title challenge next season.

One man unlikely to play any role in that is Memphis Depay, despite the news that the club have turned down a £13 million bid for the Dutch winger from French club Lyon, say Sky Sports. Depay has no future at the club, with Mourinho having exiled him from the first team, but the club are demanding a fee of £15 million.

That represents a remarkable loss on the former PSV wide man but the Red Devils are hoping to cut their losses and cut his wage from the bill to make room for other additions who will play a role in Mourinho’s squad.
