The Paul Pogba saga never sleeps, and now there are some new developments. First, some claim that Adidas’ latest advert is proof that Pogba has already completed a move and is in fact waiting for his return from holiday to sign off on the deal, with the media dragging it out to drum up interest in the deal.

Others claim that Pogba saying “don’t believe everything you read in the papers” may actually be a reflection of another possible destination on the horizon for the Frenchman. It could be that Adidas, Juventus, or in fact Pogba is not as keen on a move as is being reported. Nothing is ever simple in the transfer market!

Other claims are made in the Daily Mail, as they say that the France star will be undergoing a medical in the US, where he is currently on holiday. It is claimed that the deal nears completion after the disagreement over who will pay agent Mino Raiola’s fees was settled between the two clubs. As a result, a £290,000-a-week five-year contract is set to be signed, and an announcement could come early next week.

However, bad news comes as the club look set to miss out on Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, with the “new Neymar” set to sign for Manchester City as the club enter advanced talks with the player according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils were set to make a bid this week if reports were correct, but with Pep Guardiola nearing his man it seems as though such a move may be a waste of time for Ed Woodward and co.

With bags of potential and a great record, Jesus may be the next big thing to come out of the South American leagues, and Guardiola will have been pleased to beat his nemesis Mourinho to get his man if the Citizens can pull off a deal.

At the other end of the pitch, it is said in the Daily Mail that Mourinho is considering a return to a former Chelsea target of his and another Brazilian, former Atletico Madrid and now Inter Milan centre-back Joao Miranda.

However, with an already bloated squad, a move for the 31-year-old is unlikely until Marcos Rojo and/or Daley Blind depart Old Trafford. Mourinho is happy for both to leave as some of the reported nine requested departures, but needs a space in his squad before making a move for Miranda, who is said to be keen to leave Italy and would be available for under £20 million if reports are to be believed.

Miranda would bring bite, steel and experience to the United back-line and would surely be an asset, but as already witnessed, it may be easier said than done to get rid of Rojo and Blind in a saturated market.
