Jose Mourinho’s experimental side helped Manchester United warm up for the Europa League final this week in style as an impressive first-half display proved too much for Crystal Palace on Sunday.
At an average age of just 22 years and 284 days, the hosts’ youthful side came out of the blocks fast and it was Josh Harrop – one of four debutants – who fired United ahead with a superb solo effort.
Paul Pogba then capitalised on Joel Ward’s failed clearance to slot underneath Wayne Hennessey just moments later before Harrop came close to adding his second, narrowly curling over the bar.
Jose Mourinho rang the changes as both Pogba and Jesse Lingard made way with Wednesday’s tie with Ajax in mind and the hosts saw out an uneventful second half to claim a deserved three points.
See below for how Jose Mourinho’s experimental eleven rated on the final day of the season.
Joel Pereira – Marked his Premier League debut with a clean sheet but it took until the 76th minute for him to be forced into making his first save. Looked nervous under the high ball but did well. 6.
