Ander Herrera – 6

Missed a superb opportunity late in the first half which will overshadow his display. Strong defensively and denied City the opportunity to break forwards but offered next to nothing on the attack himself.

Michael Carrick – 7

Cool as a cucumber, Carrick’s experience in the midfield battle was vital. His distribution was key in the transition between defence and attack and he helped add an extra layer of protection to the back four.

Marouane Fellaini – 4

Added a bite of bite in midfield but too much so as he was needlessly sent off late on. That act of stupidity could have cost his side dearly, and fortunately for him he hadn’t already cost them with his carelessness on the ball.
