Antonio Valencia – 6

Had a tough job on his hands as he looked to control Leroy Sane’s pace and energy down the flank, and at times he struggled and afforded too much space to the City winger. Pinned back to limit his usual attacking contribution.

Eric Bailly – 8

Magnificently strong, he led the back four with his solidity and reading of the game. At times his distribution and passing left a little to be desired but he made sure that nothing was getting past him all night.

Daley Blind – 8

Like Bailly, Blind was comfortable and assured throughout bar one superb run by Sergio Aguero which caught him out. Much improved from his display at Burnley, he was composed and strong in the challenge

Matteo Darmian – 8

One of his best displays of the season, Darmian dealt with Raheem Sterling easily and looked to get forward down the wing to support the midfield when possible. Frustrated Sterling all evening.
