Manchester United have begun a new era, with Ruben Amorim taking the reins on a permanent basis following Erik ten Hag’s sacking.
Ruud van Nistelrooy steadied the Red Devils ship as caretaker manager and fans will be hopeful that Amorim will now help his new side kick on.
With the January transfer window now on the horizon, Manchester United fans will be eager to see what Amorim does, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
Some Red Devils players have really struggled, with ESPN’s Mark Ogden naming one Old Trafford summer signing as the worst in the Premier League so far this season.

Mark Ogden deems Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee his worst signing of the season so far
The player in question is Joshua Zirkzee, who arrived at Man United to much fanfare but is yet to deliver for the Red Devils.
Zirkzee has scored only one goal for Man United since his £36.5million arrival from Bologna in the summer.
Rasmus Hojlund’s return to fitness has led to the Netherlands international largely to make do with a spot on the bench.
Italian clubs have been asking about signing Zirkzee in wake of just 699 minutes of game time for Man United.
Ogden named the Red Devils forward as his worst Premier League signing of the season so far, saying he’s looked “out of his depth” at Old Trafford.
“I feel sorry for the kid because, you know, he can’t turn down a move to Man United,” he said. “Great move, but he’s just out of his depth.
“He’s just not good enough. He doesn’t look fit, he’s not quick enough, he doesn’t score enough goals, he’s only scored one… he’s just not ready for Man United.
“There have been a couple of rumours that he might go back to Italy in January on loan which, you know, would be an admission of failure by him and United, but I wouldn’t rule it out because he’s just not got it.
“And with a new manager coming in who likes his forwards to be dynamic, then it doesn’t doesn’t bode well for Joshua Zirkzee does it?”
Steve Nicol previously criticised Zirkzee too, saying he “doesn’t look like a centre forward and certainly doesn’t look like an accomplished goal scorer”.
Next few weeks crucial for Zirkzee and Man United
Considering Zirkzee did well in Serie A and is young, Amorim will surely want to see what the player can do in the next few weeks.
Things haven’t worked out for him yet at Man United, but perhaps with a new manager at the helm, things will pick up for him.
Some players need a little longer to get used to life at a new club in a new league and in a new country. Hopefully this will be the case for Zirkzee.
