Manchester United have been told to consider the shock sale of their captain Bruno Fernandes.

Janusz Michallik believes Man United need to weigh up selling their skipper to bring in money for a potential rebuild.

Bruno Fernandes has once again proven to be United’s most important player this season, starting in every game in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old also started in all of United’s Champions League games before their swift exit in the group stages in midweek.

Fernandes has cut a frustrated figure at times this season, with Erik ten Hag’s men underachieving so far.

But the Portuguese star remains one of United’s most reliable outlets in the final third as he’s netted five goals and registered five assists in all competitions.

Yet, Michallik has told ESPN FC that he thinks Fernandes is one player United should consider selling.

Michallik says United should consider Bruno Fernandes sale

Michallik believes that Fernandes is one of the very few players in the current United squad who’d fetch a decent price.

The pundit also thinks that if given the opportunity, the midfielder would be happy to move on.

“The worst thing about United is if you gave a lot of these players an opportunity to run right now, they would,” he said. “Who has true value? Who are the players you’re going to get right now?

“Those are the hard decisions and I’m not even talking about January. I think they seriously need to consider letting Bruno (Fernandes) go because you’re going to get something for him.

“There is a team out there. He’s talented enough so you can kind of do what he likes to do and won’t complain.

“He’s still a very good player. Unfortunately for him, to be at the best level he needs better players around him.

“That’s not going to happen in January. It is what it is now at United. I would definitely consider it because you can get value for that, a lot of money to start the rebuilding process.

“If you gave him a chance to go, this is my guess, I think he’d go. If it’s a good club that’s in the Champions League, he’d probably go.”

Fernandes made the switch to Manchester back in a deal worth up to £68 million back in January 2020.

The midfielder quickly became a fan-favourite at Old Trafford and starred under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

While United do need a bit of a re-think over the coming transfer windows, we’d have to disagree with Michallik’s view on selling Fernandes.

He’s arguably United’s most important player at the moment and there are plenty of players who need to be moved on before him.
