Manchester United have been told Anthony Martial is the very ‘worst player in the Premier League’.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Chris McHardy and John Obi Mikel both laid into the forward after his recent displays for Man United.

Erik ten Hag’s men fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Saturday.

There were lacklustre displays all over the pitch for United but one man who has received heavy criticism is Anthony Martial.

Indeed, Tony Cascarino recently labelled Ten Hag’s decision to start the Frenchman as ‘madness’.

Martial failed to make an impact on the game against the Cherries before being replaced by Rasmus Hojlund just 10 minutes after halftime.

Many have been baffled by the fact that Ten Hag continues to play the striker as he’s started in United’s last three games in the league.

And Chris McHardy has labelled the forward as the ‘worst’ player in England’s top flight.

United told Martial is the worst player in the Premier League

McHardy was joined by former Chelsea midfielder Obi-Mikel and the duo discussed Martial’s disappointing form for United.

The journalist slammed Martial, stating the forward simply doesn’t put enough effort in for United and Obi Mikel agreed.

“It’s a bit harsh to name players but I will because I am a journalist,” McHardy said. “Anthony Martial must be the worst player in the Premier League.

“When I say that people will say ‘oh well the boy is skilful’. But I don’t care that he has technical attributes, his work ethic and his general demeanour offends me. How has that boy last nine years?”

Mikel added: “I think that’s the word there his body language. Sometimes when I see him on the pitch, I remember is he still in this team?

“Nine years he has been at the club! It’s one player I never understand what he does at a football club.

“He moans, he shakes his head. Look at him! Do something! If you’re not playing well, at least kick somebody.

“Start a fight. Show you care. Anthony Martial is the opposite of that.”

It’s a damming assessment from both Mikel and McHardy. But based on Martial’s displays for United this season, it’s difficult to disagree.

The £36 million man has already shown he has the talent to thrive in England and has enjoyed some brilliant spells at Old Trafford in the past.

Yet, his form has fallen off a cliff over the past couple of years and it’s surprising he remains at United.
