Strikers are a key talking point across the Premier League in this summer transfer window.

Indeed, there are many top clubs who want to sign a new number nine this summer.

Arsenal have wanted a new striker since the dawn of time, it would seem as the Gunners have been chasing a centre-forward for three years at this point.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be after a new striker soon as Darwin Nunez is set to leave Anfield, while Manchester United are in the market for a new striker too.

Viktor Gyokeres has been linked to many top clubs, and according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Manchester United now believe Viktor Gyokeres wants to sign for Arsenal.

Manchester United believe Viktor Gyokeres wants to join Arsenal

According to Romano, the view within Old Trafford is that Gyokeres wants to sign for Arsenal.

United had been linked to Gyokeres, but after failing to qualify for European football, they concede that Arsenal is a more appealing destination at the moment.

Gyokeres is a ‘world class’ striker according to some, and United feel they’re behind in the race to sign the Sporting star.

“Yeah, look, Manchester United internally feel that the player has a priority for Arsenal, that the player prefers Arsenal also because of Champions League football, and so Manchester United respect that. My understanding is that Gyokeres didn’t say no to Manchester United. So Gyokeres didn’t call Manchester United and say that I’m not coming to join,” Romano said.

“That’s something that didn’t happen, according to my information. But in the conversation, the feeling of Manchester United is that Gyokeres prefers Arsenal. So Manchester United will still be there.”

Arsenal’s attack compared to Manchester United’s

United think Gyokeres wants to join Arsenal, and it’s easy to understand why the striker may have that mindset.

Indeed, Arsenal’s attack is much more potent and creative than United’s, you only have to look at last season’s stats to show you that.

Gyokeres could score bundles of goals in this Arsenal team, but, sadly, the same couldn’t be said if he moved to Old Trafford.

United are going to have to get used to their new place in the footballing pecking order, they’re no longer the most attractive destination in the country and Gyokeres may not be the only player they potentially miss out on this summer.

Tottenham also want Bryan Mbeumo, and that is another area of concern for Manchester United.

Don’t be shocked if the Red Devils struggle to land their top targets in this transfer window.
