Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with a proposal in the works.

The Brazilian midfielder has been one of the breakout stars in Italy this season, with Newcastle United also reportedly interested in signing Ederson.

The 24-year-old has managed an impressive five goals in all competitions, and United could now be readying a move for Ederson this January.

Goal Brasil report that United’s board have been left impressed by the South American’s performances this season, and a proposal could soon be made to sign the Atalanta midfielder.

Given how much work United need on their squad, a dynamic midfielder with an eye for goal like Ederson could be ideal for Erik Ten Hag this January.

However, as per the report, Atalanta won’t let Ederson leave for cheap, and the finances of the deal could result in United struggling to sign the Brazilian midfielder this month.

Manchester United must try to sign Ederson this month

Whilst all the attention is on United to sign a striker this January, it’s fairly obvious that the Red Devils could also do with a quality midfield addition, as well.

And Ederson would fill that role perfectly for Ten Hag’s side, with the Brazilian impressing greatly this season with Atalanta in Serie A.

Whilst the Bergamo-based side might demand quite a fee for Ederson, the financial cost could be worth it for United if an agreement can be reached with Atalanta.

Moreover, the midfielder himself might be keen on making the move to Old Trafford, with Ederson a player who is well-suited to the Premier League.
