Manchester United: Move for defender nears completion; £15m deal possible; Ajax prodigy could join

The Mirror claim that the club are closing in on a move for Benfica central defender Victor Lindelof, who is desperate for a move to Old Trafford. The Swede has a £30 million buy out clause in his contract which will only be active for the summer transfer window, but is hoping to complete a move in January.

His Portuguese club are reluctant to allow him to depart as they see the 22-year-old as vital to their hopes in the knock-out stages of the Champions League, where they have been drawn against Borussia Dortmund, but a £34 million offer from United may test their resolve.

Another defensive addition could be incoming in the form of a man who already played in Manchester once this season for Feyenoord in the Europa League, with a £15 million bid for right-back Rick Karsdorp likely in the coming weeks say the Mirror. The 21-year-old has impressed of late and Jose Mourinho reportedly sees him as ideal to compete with Antonio Valencia in that position.

With two caps and over 60 first team appearances to his name, Karsdorp has good experience despite his youth and could represent a long term solution for the club with Valencia now 31-years-old.

Another incoming addition for the future could be Ajax sensation Naci Unuvar, labelled by some as the new Lionel Messi due to his similar style and incredible ball control, footwork and skills. Turkish outlet Sporkavehsi report that the 13-year-old could move to Manchester despite interest from Arsenal.

He would follow in the footsteps of the likes of Timothy Fosu-Mensah and would also see his father offered a role at United as part of the deal to persuade him to move. Currently representing Holland in the youth category, Unuvar is also available for the Turkish national team.
