Metro claim that Manchester United made an approach to Vinicius Junior, the 16-year-old Brazilian who has been dubbed the new Neymar. The Flamengo forward has attracted interest after scoring four goals in six games in the Copinha under 20 tournament and breaking into the club’s first team. However, the club have stated that they rejected an approach from Manchester United for the youngster.

The striker now has a £30 million release clause in his contract which is seemingly the only way that the Red Devils would get their man any time soon, but it could be a sound investment if he reaches his full potential.

Concerningly, the Telegraph, citing reports in Spain, state that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has made David de Gea his top priority in the summer transfer window after the club’s transfer ban was shortened, with a new first choice goalkeeper his biggest concern heading towards the end of the season.

The Spaniard nearly made the move two years ago when the deal fell apart after failing to submit the necessary paperwork in time, and it remains unclear if the former Atletico Madrid man wants to return to his home city or not given the increased importance in the role he plays at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for back-up option Ashley Young who has been contacted regarding a £195,000 per week contract by Shandong Luneng from the Chinese Super League according to the Sun. They claim that United have so far rejected all approaches for the utility man, but he may try to force a move if his head is turned.

It would not be a great loss to Jose Mourinho given how small his impact has been on the first team scene this season, but it may require an addition to add depth and experience to the squad.
