Manchester United may sign ‘special’ player if they sell Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho

This is perhaps the most important summer transfer window in Manchester United’s recent history.

The Red Devils have just recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish, and they need to rebuild.

However, United are at risk of losing Bruno Fernandes to Saudi Arabia, and replacing Fernandes won’t be easy.

Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Ben Jacobs has been discussing what United may do this summer.

The journalist says that he thinks United would make a move for Viktor Gyokeres if Fernandes left Old Trafford, but he notes that Alejandro Garnacho may also have to leave for such a deal to be possible.

Manchester United could sign Viktor Gyokeres if Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes leave

Jacobs shared what he knows about Manchester United’s plans and the knock-on effect the sale of Bruno Fernandes could have.

The journalist says United could go and get Gyokeres if Fernandes is sold, but Garnacho may also have to leave the club.

“But if Bruno went I think Manchester United would move for Viktor Gyokeres. That’s probably the domino. Bruno Fernandes goes to Al-Hilal, certainly not definite at this stage, but an option. Sesko to Arsenal and Gyokeres to Manchester United, Delap to Chelsea and maybe Ekitike to Liverpool. That’s one example of how things could play out,” Jacobs said.

“Manchester United like Gyokeres, but they have to be able to afford the fee and the wage for Gyokeres, and they may only be able to do that with the sale of Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho rather than just only one of them.”

Viktor Gyokeres’ record under Ruben Amorim

Going for a player like Gyokeres after selling Fernandes is something of a risk, but it’s a real sign of faith in Ruben Amorim.

Indeed, Gyokeres is the perfect striker for Amorim, and these two had a fantastic record when working together at Sporting.

Gyokeres is a ‘special’ striker, and while it would really sting for United to lose Bruno Fernandes, bringing in a player like Gyokeres would certainly soften that blow.

It will be interesting to see what Manchester United do this summer, as a big rebuild appears to be on the horizon.
