The Sun claim that Manchester United are preparing a £220,000 per week contract to offer to Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann as they attempt to persuade the Frenchman to head to Old Trafford on the same wage as his international teammate Paul Pogba.
Atletico are said to be reluctant to sell and are holding out for at least £86 million to sell their star man and top scorer, but United are desperate to add another galactico style signing in the summer and Griezmann would fit that model.
A move for Swedish defender Victor Lindelof looks set to be delayed until the summer if it is to happen at all after Jose Mourinho confirmed to the press:
“No, I wait for Bailly. I hope the three can control the situation in those eight matches. I will try to rest one in every game. On Saturday I will rest one, against Hull another – and we’ll try to make a rotation between these three. We still have Daley Blind as the fourth defender in case we need him to play there and we also have Michael Carrick, so let’s try.”
Negotiations with Benfica were said to be progressing but have now stalled and it suddenly seems that a move for the 22-year-old is unlikely with Mourinho happy with his current options.
The club could also be preparing to delay a move for Lazio forward Keita Balde Diao, claim Calciomercato, after the 21-year-old has decided to remain in Rome for the rest of the season despite interest from AC Milan and United. The wideman is currently at the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.
With five goals and three assists in 16 league games this season, the left sided attacker could remain an option in the summer with only 18 months left on his current deal at Lazio.
