Reports in the Manchester Evening News, which cite the Sun, claim that Manchester United have made a preliminary enquiry into the availability of Real Madrid’s wantaway attacking midfielder James Rodriguez. The Colombian joined los Blancos for £63 million from Monaco after impressing at the 2014 World Cup, but has found himself struggling for game time this season and is now considering his options.

It is thought that a bid of at least £50 million would be needed to convince Madrid to sell, and they are unlikely to do so until the summer due to their current transfer ban, but the 25-year-old could be keen on a move to Old Trafford.

One man heading out of the Theatre of Dreams is Morgan Schneiderlin, but his exit has suffered another setback as the Telegraph report that the club have turned down a £19 million offer from Everton as they hope to secure a fee of at least £24 million before accepting any move for the Frenchman.

The Red Devils do not want to suffer a loss on the 27-year-old who joined only 18 months ago but he no longer has any role in Jose Mourinho’s plans either at present or in the future.

Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira has revealed that Victor Lindelof may well leave the club, but only if his release clause is met. Vieira revealed:

“Lindelof is a Benfica player with a release clause. We will wait and see.”

The 22-year-old was expected to complete a move but speculation now suggests that the club are holding off a deal and do not want to be forced into paying over the odds for the Swede, who is known to have a no-nonsense style of defending but is also calm and composed on the ball when in possession.
