Darren Bent believes Liverpool would be interested in Manchester United maestro Paul Pogba

Darren Bent has told Talk Sport that he thinks Manchester United star Paul Pogba would be wanted by Manchester City and Liverpool.

The pundit made the suggestion during his stint on the Drive show yesterday afternoon.

Pogba has played just seven times for United this season and it would hardly be surprising if he was sold in the summer.

The Sun has previously reported that United would sell Pogba for £150 million.

Bent believes that although he has struggled at United, clubs would still form a queue to snap him up.

He told Talk Sport: “When someone like Paul Pogba comes available on the market, and let’s not forget he’s only 26, there’s going to be so many takers.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if teams like Manchester City come in for him. I can see him getting in Liverpool’s team too.

“If he’s on top, top form he can get in most teams in the world. When you talk about United selling him, I think there’s going to be a whole host of teams lining up.”

Pogba earns £290,000-a-week (Spotrac) at United and it’s fair to say he isn’t earning that at the moment.

He has been injured for the majority of the season, although some doubts among supporters have questioned his application.

The World Cup winner has never really settled back at United and it wouldn’t represent much of a surprise to see him sold.

TBR View – Pogba at Liverpool is unthinkable

Although he was brilliant at Juventus, it’s hard to imagine him rediscovering his best form at another Premier League club.

Liverpool have a close-knit squad and they won’t want Pogba going into the dressing room and upsetting the morale.

Bent is right that most clubs would probably want him based purely on his quality.

He is only 26 and when he knuckles down and plays he is capable of the sublime.

Given the money he’d cost, however, and assessing the bigger picture, Pogba going to Anfield seems highly unlikely.
