Manchester United are now looking to beat Newcastle and West Ham to a transfer target ahead of Friday’s deadline.
It has been a fairly quiet summer at Old Trafford in terms of attacking reinforcements, with Joshua Zirkzee the only addition in that department, as Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui arrive to bolster Erik ten Hag’s defence.
Now – however – Manchester United are in talks to sign a forward, one West Ham and Newcastle are also interested in…
Manchester United in talks to sign Raheem Sterling
A story from the Telegraph now states that Manchester United are in talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign Raheem Sterling.
The England international has been exiled by Enzo Maresca for no good reason – and is aiming to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window shuts on Friday 30th August.
It comes after Give Me Sport claimed that Newcastle are keen to sign Sterling from Chelsea as Eddie Howe looks to improve his own attack.
Sources have also informed TBR Football that West Ham and Aston Villa are interested in Sterling after he was dropped by Maresca, and saw his No.7 shirt handed to Pedro Neto.

The Telegraph believe any agreement between Manchester United and Chelsea would involve Jadon Sancho moving to west London, with the £73m man also not exactly in his manager’s good books after a fall out with Ten Hag last season.
Sterling, who earns a whopping £325,000-a-week at Chelsea, scored ten goals and provided eight assists in 43 appearances last season.
West Ham actually hold one key advantage over Manchester United and Newcastle
While Manchester United are the ones currently in talks to sign Sterling, it is ultimately up to the 29-year-old himself to decide where he goes, which could play into West Ham’s favour.
Sources have also told TBR Football that Sterling ideally wants to stay in London, where his family are settled, so a move to Manchester United or Newcastle would represent major upheaval for the man from Kingston.

However, joining West Ham would mean the £50m man only has to swap west London for east London, so if the Hammers can strike an agreement with Chelsea, personal terms should be easier to negotiate for the Irons than they presumably would be for Manchester United or Newcastle.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Crystal Palace are also keen to sign Sterling this summer…
