Manchester United: Griezmann reacts to links; goalkeeper to leave; defender left out

Antoine Griezmann has reacted angrily to yet more questions on his future as rumours continue to circle linking him with a move to Old Trafford. The Frenchman told the media:

“I’m very happy at Atletico, I’m very proud to play for these fans, with these players and with this coach. I want to try and pay back the confidence and care that the people at Atletico have always shown me. I don’t like this question, don’t hit me with these questions about my future because for players like Cristiano, Messi or Bale nobody asks them what is going to happen next year or where they are going to play. That’s why I don’t like it when they ask me, either. I’m happy and enjoying myself at Atletico, don’t ask me about my future anymore.”

The Atletico man would be a very expensive addition but is now widely considered to be one of the best players in the world and could be a quality addition if the club can pull it off.

However, young goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is one player who is nearing a deal which could take him to Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season according to the Daily Mail, with the deal set to be completed and announced within the next week. The 23-year-old is expected to be the only loan departure in this transfer window for Jose Mourinho as he seeks regular first team football at the Championship club.

Currently third choice at Old Trafford, Johnstone has come through the youth ranks at the club with a number of loan spells in the lower divisions of the Football League with this experience set to be his biggest challenge to date.

Elsewhere, Victor Lindelof has been left out of Benfica’s squad yet again, with the Metro claiming that it is linked to his possible switch to Manchester. Interest had reportedly cooled in the Swede, but he is yet to feature for the Portuguese side since the end of their winter break and looks set to be sidelined again with no injury publicly revealed.

That does not mean that the 22-year-old is on his way out though, and he may be sidelined whilst he regains focus on his current club after weeks of speculation reportedly had him desperate to leave.
