Manchester United fans react as West Ham linked with audacious move for Alexis Sanchez
West Ham United are reportedly interested in pulling off an audacious move to sign Manchester United attacker Alexis Sanchez this summer – and United supporters are desperate for West Ham and David Moyes to take the Chilean off their books.
Sanchez, 31, joined Manchester United in January 2018 but managed just five goals in 45 games. Indeed, the former Barcelona and Arsenal star turned out to be one of the Premier League’s most-expensive flops, and he has been loaned out to Inter Milan.
His form has hardly improved under Antonio Conte. Indeed, Sanchez has managed only 15 appearances in all competitions – and has scored just one goal. He has been sent off as many times as he has scored, picking up a red in the same game he scored.
Italian outlet FC Inter News claim West Ham have made contact with Sanchez’s representatives, with Inter Milan unable to buy Sanchez permanently due to his enormous wages. Inter have been paying just £100,000, of his £400,000-a-week wages.
It is also believed German clubs are interested in Sanchez, but the player will need to take a big pay cut if he is to leave Old Trafford this summer. The two-time FA Cup winner has a contract at Manchester United until the summer of 2022.
Manchester United supporters reacted to the reported news that Moyes could look to raid his old side and bring Sanchez to the London Stadium, and many have urged the Hammers to complete a move for the South American star.
