Manchester United fans react as Tottenham, West Ham, Newcastle and Everton reportedly eye Lingard
Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and two other Premier League clubs are looking at Jesse Lingard – and Manchester United fans have responded.
Lingard, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season. The Times report that he has held talks over his future with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Those talks have resulted in Lingard looking as though he will leave Manchester United on a free at the end of the season – or even in January.
ESPN report say interest in the England star is rife. It is said four Premier League clubs are keen – in Spurs, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham.
With the player expected to go on a free, or a potential loan in January – he will have a decision to make. West Ham are likely to be the favourites.
That is, after shining on loan with the Hammers last season – scoring nine goals in 16 games. Newcastle can tempt him financially with wages.
But Everton might need a number 10 more than most after losing James Rodriguez, and Spurs have Antonio Conte – and the best facilities.
What are Manchester United fans saying about clubs eyeing Lingard?
Manchester United could have sold Lingard for £25million or even more in the summer. Solskjaer chose to keep him, but United will regret that.
Indeed, Lingard is now going to go for nothing, or a cut-price figure in January. He might even go on loan in January, and then sign for a club.
Manchester United fans have responded on Twitter to reports that Lingard could go – with Tottenham, Everton, West Ham and Newcastle all keen.
