Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Chris Smalling this summer as Jose Mourinho is linked with raiding his old side again – and United fans have responded on Twitter.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato has claimed that Roma have intensified negotiations to sign Smalling on a permanent basis, and a meeting took place between the 30-year-old’s representatives over the weekend.
The England international has been in stunning form for Roma, after being allowed to leave Old Trafford on loan. In 27 appearances for Roma in all competitions, Smalling has helped his side keeping nine clean sheets – and score two goals.

The report claims Manchester United want £17million for Smalling, who joined the Premier League giants way back in 2010 from Fulham. His contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2022.
Tottenham are likely to be after a central defender this summer, with Jan Vertonghen edging closer and closer to the exit door. His contract expires in the summer, while Juan Foyth may also depart after being linked with a move in January.
Manchester United fans reacted to the reported news that Tottenham want to sign their player in the summer, and many want Mourinho to do them a favour by taking him to north London.
