Manchester United fans impressed by £16m Arsenal star, during 3-2 victory
Manchester United edged past Arsenal with a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford on Thursday evening – but one Arsenal player caught the eye of United fans on Twitter, in the form of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
In a turbulent affair, both sides had chances to win the game and lead their opponents at certain points. Controversy was easily found, as Emile Smith-Rowe volleyed home an opener, David De Gea injured.
Cristiano Ronaldo took his overall tally to an incredible 801 with a brace, while Bruno Fernandes scored the first of United’s three. Martin Odegaard scored, but conceded a penalty on the night.
A brilliant game that had a bit of everything. Tomiyasu, a £16million summer signing from Bologna in the summer (Athletic) was solid on Arsenal’s right flank – coming up against Jadon Sancho.
The England international lasted the entire 90 minutes but you will be forgiven for thinking that he might have been taken off in the second half – such is the job Tomiyasu did in keeping him quiet.
What do Manchester United fans think of Arsenal defender Tomiyasu?
Clearly, Manchester United have their own problems at right-back currently. Michael Carrick – who has now left the club altogether after masterminding a 3-2 win – started Diego Dalot.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka had an injury concern, but the ex-Crystal Palace defender might have got the axe anyway. Looking at Arsenal, their right-back slot has been made a certainty by Japan star Tomiyasu.
Excellently sturdy in defence, given he can play as a centre-back and does so for Japan, he is also improving his on-the-ball attributes. Manchester United fans were very impressed on Twitter.
