Manchester United fans drool over Newcastle star after defeat at St. James’ Park

Newcastle United produced a wonderful display to see of Manchester United on Sunday afternoon thanks to a debut goal from teenage midfielder Matty Longstaff – and Manchester United supporters have applauded Toon star Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Chronicle claimed that Newcastle spent £16.5million to sign 22-year-old Saint-Maximing from OGC Nice in the summer, and the Frenchman has instantly become a hit on Tyneside despite only managing four appearances.

Indeed, hamstring and groin problems have kept the speed machine on the sidelines – managing just substitute appearances for Steve Bruce’s side. But on Sunday, he was included in the starting line-up for the first time since his move to Newcastle.

The former France Under-21 international lasted 83 minutes and was excellent throughout, taking the game to United and running at their beleaguered defence, which looked as though it was lacking in confidence after a poor run of results.

Indeed, Saint-Maximin was absolutely pivotal in Newcastle’s goal. A stunning pass from Miguel Almiron found Saint-Maximin and the winger dribbled from his inside his own half past numerous United defenders before finding Jetro Willems.

Willems, also a new signing, cut inside past two players before laying the ball off the Longstaff who smashed home an effort past David De Gea. Manchester United fans were very impressed by Saint-Maximin, with some urging him to move to United.
