Manchester United: FA react to Mourinho dismissal; new interest in Memphis; Rooney takes unexpected step
After being sent off for the second time this season, the FA have charged Jose Mourinho with improper conduct after he was sent to the stands having lashed out at a water bottle in anger after Paul Pogba was correctly booked for simulation.
Mourinho’s last ban resulted in a one match ban and an £8,000 fine, but it is likely that the punishment will be even more severe this time to reflect the fact that Mourinho has been by far the worst behaved manager in the Premier League this season.
Memphis Depay is also attracting new interest from Italy as the Sun report that Roma are monitoring the situation of the Dutchman, who shares an agent with two players at the club, Kevin Strootman and loanee Thomas Vermaelen. The winger has struggled to make the first team under Mourinho and is expected to leave, with Everton interested.
Roma could offer an alternate escape route if the Red Devils are reluctant to allow him to stay in the Premier League, but the youngster is understood to be desperate to depart to recover his career after stagnating on the bench at Old Trafford.
After the fiasco which surrounded Wayne Rooney having been photographed on a night out on international duty, his agent has revealed that he may take the unexpected step of refusing to have photos taken with fans, as he revealed:
“Undoubtedly one of the sad byproducts of this whole situation and everything Wayne has had to deal with since the night after the Scotland game means we are having to review the whole process of when he’s in public in his own time. Wayne has always been open to agreeing to pictures in public and enjoys engaging with the public as a normal person. That said, while 99.9 per cent of people who approach Wayne are entirely genuine in their motives, sadly there’s a small minority with a their own agenda who want pictures of him for an entirely different purpose.”
The England international may not be in Manchester for much longer should he continue to be benched by Jose Mourinho as he continues to endure a horrid season.
