Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are determined to sign Joao Neves from Benfica in the summer of 2024.
That is according to The Mirror, which has noted what the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are starting to do now regarding Neves.
So, what has been reported about Manchester United and Joao Neves? Let’s take a look.
Manchester United keen on Benfica midfielder Joao Neves
Well, The Mirror has reported that Manchester United are interested in signing Joao Neves from Benfica in the summer of 2024.
The report has claimed that United are about to start talks with Benfica. The Red Devils are now laying down the groundwork for a deal for Neves at the end of the season.

Neves has a release clause of £103 million in his contract at Benfica, who will not sell the Portugal international midfielder in the January transfer window.
The Mirror has suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who recently agreed to buy a 25 per cent stake in United, “is determined to improve their recruitment this year”, adding that Neves is “viewed as a priority investment”.
My View: Manchester United should trigger Joao Neves’s release clause
In my opinion, Manchester United should trigger Joao Neves’s release clause of £103 million if they are to get a deal done. It is as simple as that.
Benfica will have to let United speak to Neves if the Premier League club decide to pay the release clause. And then it will be up to the Red Devils to try to convince the 19-year-old midfielder to make the move to Old Trafford.
Arsenal have also been linked with Neves, who is rated highly by United and Portugal international attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Neves has made 14 starts and three substitute appearances in Liga Portugal this season. The teenager has scored one goal and provided one assist in those games.
