Manchester United have made a staggering £170k-a-week offer to PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, although the player would prefer to head to Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail.
The academy graduate has made 224 appearances for the Parisians, scoring 24 goals. After refusing to sign a new deal he has been frozen out by boss Thomas Tuchel and now looks set to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.
A huge admirer of Steven Gerrard, Rabiot would be tempted by the size of the financial package at Old Trafford. He would, however, prefer to follow in the footsteps of his hero and join the Champions League winners.
There is no suggestion at this stage from the Daily Mail report that Rabiot will turn down United. His desire to play for Liverpool, however, could see him wait for their advances.

The French international has six caps for his country but has not been called up since refusing a place on the standby list for last summer’s World Cup.
Manchester United will be desperate for reinforcements this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tries to rebuild his squad.
Liverpool, on the other hand, will opt for quality over quantity. The current squad is in a healthy place following a stunning campaign that ended with Champions League silverware.
TBR Verdict
Rabiot certainly seems like an interesting character. At 24 he already has over 200 appearances to his name at a good level and has received international recognition.

There is a sense that he could be a bit of a controversial performer, however. He refused to sign a new deal at PSG and was subsequently frozen out and he also rejected a place on Didier Deschamps’ standby last for the World Cup in Russia last summer.
Liverpool won’t want anyone coming in and upsetting their strong squad harmony; whilst Manchester United can’t really afford any more passengers within their ranks.
The midfielder clearly boasts quality. Both clubs should tread carefully, however, before splashing out a substantial wage packet to secure his services.
