Money Makes the Mancs Go Round

It is not worth delving too deep into the annuls of history for what Man City were before the Sheiks arrived, but needless to say, they were unfashionable. In 2008, a group of wealthy Arabs from the UAE came looking to invest in a British football club. They picked City for its pure potential and arranged a takeover for around £200m.

The first task for the new owners was a deadline day rush for star players. They chose Robinho and ushered in an unprecedented era of spending. City has since been hoovering up top talent from all the globe, and it has been their primary method of success.

The strategy worked and City have become one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world, collecting two Premier League trophies, one FA Cup and one League Cup under the new owners. Bookmakers are also tipping for them to win the League again this year.
