A report from Italy has claimed that Serie A side Hellas Verona can sign Manchester City star Ivan Ilic for a bargain £10.3million as he continues to shine on loan – but City supporters have reacted, amid a potential buyback clause.
Ilic, 19, has broken into the starting line-up at Verona since joining the club on loan from Pep Guardiola’s side last summer. A decent spell at Dutch side NAC Breda – in which he scored four in 24 from midfield – has been followed by a good spell in Italy.
Now, he is a starter in Serie A – having netted three goals in 19 from midfield. He even scored against Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan, while netting in his loan side’s last Serie A outing agianst Genoa – which resulted in a 2-2 draw away from home.
Now, Hellas1903 have claimed that Verona are able to sign Ilic – a Serbia Under-21 international – for little over £10million to keep him at the club beyond the end of the season. Right now, he has a contract at City until the summer of 2022.
But City fans are impressed by the reports – and that is because a buyback clause could be inserted by their club, worth £20.5million. Indeed, many backed the deal – which would see them bring in some cash, but could easily buy him back.
