Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha is attracting Premier League and Bundesliga interest, according to father
Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs according to his father.
Speaking to HLN, Kalu Nmecha revealed that the 22-year-old German youth international has caught the eye of teams around the continent, with Nmecha impressing in his season-long loan spell with Belgian side R.S.C. Anderlecht, who are managed by former City captain and club legend Vincent Kompany.
Nmecha is likely to leave City this summer with Het Nieuwsblad reporting via Sport Witness that that Pep Guardiola has no plans to offer the striker a new deal despite an impressive season in Belgium, with the youngster scoring 18 goals in 37 appearances for Anderlecht and being hailed as ‘a complete striker’ by Kompany via the Manchester Evening News.
And Nmecha’s father seems to have added to the exit talk, with Kalu saying: “As far as I am concerned, it would certainly be smart to stay with Anderlecht, but the decision does not only lie with Lukas. We shall see. There is a lot of interest from the Bundesliga and the Premier League, City wants to sell Nmecha as expensive as possible.”
TBR View: Blessing from Kompany could have persuaded City to keep Nmecha
With Sergio Aguero set to leave City at the end of this season, the club are on the lookout for a new striker who can take over from the club legend, and whilst Nmecha isn’t the first name to come to mind when pondering such a question, it isn’t as unrealistic a suggestion.
With Kompany, one of City’s greatest ever players, a huge fan of the striker and European clubs interested in the 22-year-old, Guardiola’s side could be missing a trick not giving Nmecha a chance in the first-team for next season, which could prove more successful than just selling him this summer for a team that will likely get the best out of him in the coming weeks.
