City players, Shearer and Mascherano react as Aguero exit confirmed

10 years, 10 trophies and a whopping 257 goals in 384 games. Sergio Aguero is set to leave Manchester City as one of the club’s best-ever players, if not the best – and plenty have reacted on social media to his departure, which has been confirmed.

Aguero, 32, is out of contract in the summer and Manchester City have confirmed that the former Atletico Madrid man will not be offered the chance to sign a new deal. This season, he has only managed 14 appearances – scoring three goals.

The 97-time Argentina international is now primed to leave and while he is expected to get a few appearances between now and the end of the season – it is certainly not the way he will have wanted to finish his time at Manchester City.

Four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and five League Cups could be even more come the end of the campaign with City still in the hunt for more – but Aguero confirmed that he would be leaving, posting an emotional message on Instagram.

Plenty of reports have suggested that Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland will be brought in to replace Aguero, while Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane could also be tempted – if Spurs struggle to finish in the top four this season.

Many responded, with numerous Manchester City players commenting on the above post – or posting reaction themselves. Others, such as Micah Richards, Javier Mascherano and even Alan Shearer also commented on social media.
