Phil Foden has named Jack Wilshere among the players he liked as a youngster, as per the Sunday People, 24/03, page 54.
The young English midfielder is getting a great footballing education and could well be the playmaker Gareth Southgate needs in years to come, and has been explaining his inspirations.
He said: “My style of play comes from myself. It’s good that people say I’m not a typical English footballer. I don’t copy anyone but I like to learn.
“I loved Andres Iniesta and David Silva. I liked Jack Wilshere as well. Every day I was out in the garden, morning until night.”

Wilshere, who Spotrac claim earns £100,000 a week at the London Stadium, has not been able to show his best football at West Ham this season because of injury.
But before that, he was probably the Foden of his generation. He created so much excitement because he was different to other English midfielders and took international football by storm initially.
It’s not surprising that as an English youngster, Foden picked out Wilshere as an inspiration but he will hope that his progression moves along a lot more smoothly – and that he can force his way into the City team on a regular enough basis to become an England senior starter.
