Trent Alexander-Arnold suffered a calf injury during Sunday’s 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Manchester City at The Etihad – and Raheem Sterling has sent his England teammate a message on Instagram.
Goals from Mo Salah and Gabriel Jesus saw the two Premier League title favourites play out a stalemate. An enthralling match for the first hour, the game fizzled out in the second half as both sides played for the draw.
While it was a good result for Liverpool given they have avoided defeat and secured a point away from home, Alexander-Arnold will not be as happy. He was replaced on 63 minutes, clutching his calf.
The right-back will now miss England’s games against Ireland, Iceland and Belgium – and posted a message on Instagram to Liverpool fans, entitled “recovery time”.
The Liverpool Echo have reported bad news for Liverpool fans regarding the timescale of Alexander-Arnold’s injury. It is expected to keep the defender sidelined for the best part of the month.
Despite the international break, it could mean Alexander-Arnold will miss Liverpool’s next six games including the remaining three Champions League matches – against Ajax, FC Midtjylland and Atalanta.
He will also be sidelined for Premier League outings against Leicester, Brighton and Wolves, if he is indeed out for a month. £300,000-a-week attacker (Spotrac) Sterling sent a four-word message to Alexander-Arnold, after his injury.
