Kyle Walker has admitted to ITV Sports that he and his Manchester City side were stunned by Leeds United on Saturday evening after the Whites produced a marvellous display to earn a point against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Manchester City took the lead through Raheem Sterling during Saturday evening’s 1-1 draw, but Leeds equalised through club-record signing Rodrigo. The latter also hit the bar twice, with Ederson producing a wonderful save to stop his header.
It saw Marcelo Bielsa take on Pep Guardiola for the fourth time in their careers – with the previous three matches taking place when Barcelona faced Athletic Bilbao. The match was excellent for the neutral, going end to end.
Asked by Andros Townsend about Leeds, £53million (Guardian) City defender Walker described the match like a basketball game – and discussed Luke Ayling’s marking of Sterling, describing the draw as a “weirdest game”.

“Leeds, I am promising you, Andros [Townsend] was the weirdest game. It’s like Basketball. I couldn’t believe it. Seriously, I couldn’t believe it,” Walker said. “Say, for instance, Raheem was playing on the left and he’s going over to the right.
“Their right-back is going over to the right with him. It’s incredible. But I think they have a system that works. They have, of course, achieved what they have achieved in the Championship and coming up into the Premiership as well.”
TBR’s view – Leeds making mark, but can they keep it up?
Pundits and fans alike have been amazed by Leeds United’s start to the Premier League season. But the question mark surrounding Leeds is the same – can they keep up the level of intensity that they have started with?
Well, Leeds fans watched their side do it for 46 matches last term – eight more than the Premier League’s 38 fixtures. But lockdown may have played into Leeds hands, giving them a decent rest and allowing them to go again after the break.
However, Leeds are renowned for being one of the fittest teams in England under Bielsa. Even if they tail off towards the end, racking up the points now may leave them in an excellent position.
