The big news of the day comes in the form of Kelechi Iheanacho’s imminent move to Leicester City, with the Telegraph claiming that Manchester City will insert a £50 million buy-back clause in the deal.

Reports across the past 24 hours – also from the Telegraph – have said that the 20-year-old forward has travelled to Leicester’s base to undergo a medical and eke out the last few formalities of a move.

And it has now transpired that the Citizens are to demand that a buy-back option is inserted into Iheanacho’s contract that would allow them the first choice to re-sign him if he reaches his potential.

It seems to be a concept that appeals to both teams, with City still holding Iheanacho in high regard after breaking through the academy and Leicester potentially making £25million profit should he be sold.

Meanwhile, in the latest update regarding Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told the Chilean that he won’t be sold to a Premier League rival this summer.

The 28-year-old returned to first-team training yesterday following an extended summer break for his involvement in the FIFA Confederations Cup, and The Times claim Wenger has laid down the law.

This will come as yet another blow for City boss Pep Guardiola in his pursuit of Sanchez, just weeks after The Guardian had claimed that the Spaniard was confident of securing a switch to Manchester.

Away from the ongoing rumour mill, Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has said that he wants to return from his injury an ‘even better’ player and make Germany’s 2018 World Cup squad.

The German international has been out since December after suffering knee ligament damage against Watford but has stepped up his recovery since June, featuring on City’s pre-season tour.

In an interview for FourFourTwo, the German said: “At the moment [my aim] is simply to get fully fit as fast as possible and get back to the level that I was at before my injury – and then maybe get even better.

“I just want to be fit and be able to end the season, and then play for Germany at the World Cup. There is a lot for me to look forward to and it’s all really exciting. Hopefully it will be a good year.”

The 26-year-old arrived in Manchester last summer in a £20 million move from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, and he managed ten league appearances – with three goals – before his injury.
