Manchester City Round-Up: Dortmund star could replace Aguero; French giants want striker
According to reports in The Sun this morning, Manchester City could be set to make Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang their summer focus if Sergio Aguero leaves.
Although the Argentinian striker has pledged his allegiance to Pep Guardiola’s side despite being benched for the past two matches due to the emergence of Gabriel Jesus, it is believed that there’s still a chance the 28-year-old will leave in summer – and City will pounce on the Gabon international.
Guardiola will allegedly make a £40 million plus move for Aubameyang, who has scored 21 times already this season for the German side.
This comes only a fortnight after The Sun reported that the Dortmund star wants a move away from Germany over the upcoming summer – adding fuel to the Manchester City fire.
If Aguero does, in fact, leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season, the Daily Mail have reported that French giants Paris Saint Germain are in the hunt to sign the striker.
Aguero has been named on the substitutes bench for consecutive matches for the first time since 2014, and PSG look set to exploit his out-of-favour position and bring him to the French capital.
The Daily Mail claims that contact has already been made between Patrick Kluivert, director of football at PSG, and the club’s board as they try to devise a plan to lure the striker into the club.
However, the report also details that the French side are concerned about meeting the financial needs of Aguero – something which could eventually stall their interest in the City man.
