Manchester City are reportedly preparing an opening bid for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

According to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola’s Citizens are set to begin with an offer of £75million plus add-ons.

However, the report adds that Villa aren’t considering doing business for anything less than £100million.

In addition, the West Midlands side is apparently looking to offer him a £150,000-a-week contract to persuade him to stay.

Grealish is reported to be on £120,000-a-week at present.

Manchester City eyeing an “exceptional” player?

Grealish came through the ranks at Villa to help steer his boyhood club back to the Premier League.

Villa retained their top-flight status in 2019-20 and kicked on in 2020-21, finishing 11th in the table.

Grealish then featured for England at Euro 2020 as they reached the final of the tournament.

The 25-year-old is one of English football’s most highly rated players.

Last October, after Villa were defeated 3-0 by City, Pep Guardiola sung Grealish’s praises.

“He’s incredible,” the Manchester Evening News quotes him as saying. “A top player.

“I’m happy he stayed in the Championship to defend his club when he could have gone.

“He’s a talented player who always creates something.

“[Grealish] is an exceptional player but too expensive for Manchester!”
