Liverpool have come in for high praise from Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who has branded the Reds the best team in Europe.
The Spaniard, a £62.8 million signing from Atletico Madrid (BBC Sport), has looked beyond the intensifying rivalry between the two clubs and delivered an honest verdict about Jurgen Klopp’s team, who are currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
He told ESPN: “The team to beat is Liverpool now and that has been seen the last two seasons. They are the champions of Europe so everyone wants to beat them, not just us.
“They’re a great team, they have improved a lot of things, they’re a very good team, and they’re the best team in England and in Europe.”
Rodri, who has made a fine start at the Etihad Stadium following his transfer, will be hoping to help his side reduce the gap between the two teams once Premier League action resumes next weekend.
The Reds probably are second to nobody right now given their 100% league record and status as reigning champions of Europe, as much as Manchester City fans will loathe to hear Rodri’s take.
They haven’t been as good in either attack or defense this year, but they are grinding out victories like all top sides do.
It is a scary thought for the rest considering they haven’t come anywhere close to hitting top gear yet.
