Manchester City keeping tabs on Oyarzabal ahead of potential £70m move
Manchester City are eyeing Mikel Oyarzabal.
The Spanish winger has been starring for both Spain and Real Sociedad in recent years.
The 24-year-old is one of the most exciting players in La Liga and already has four goals in five games this season.
He would be a good signing for City and has been linked with a £70m move to Manchester (TEAMtalk).
Oyarzabal is also a player who has attracted interest from Europe’s elite in previous years.
Bayern Munich have previously looked at signing the player (AS), but instead opted to sign Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.
Now, though, Manchester City could be set to make Oyarzabal a Cityzen.
There are many attacking options at The Etihad already, but the Spaniard could still star.
Manchester City are eyeing Mikel Oyarzabal
Not only has the 24-year-old scored and assisted a ludicrous number of goals for the club, but he’s already made history.
In the 2019/20 season he captained his side to a Copa Del Rey triumph (Real Sociedad En).
That cup win was Sociedad’s first major honour since 1987.
It came courtesy of a 1-0 win against Athletic Bilbao through an Oyarzabal penalty.
Now, though, he could swap San Sebastian for Manchester.
Under Pep Guardiola, Oyarzabal would be competing with a lot of attacking options.
There are some incredible wingers at the club but the Spaniard would fit in.
At just 24, he has 245 appearances for La Real, scoring 68 and assisting 45 in the process (Transfermarkt).
City are without a classic number 9 seeing as Gabriel Jesus has outlined his preference to play out wide.
Oyarzabal has never played as a centre-forward but he does have experience on both wings.
His signing would allow Ferran Torres to continue as a striker.
The pair have played together for Spain and worked well in the past.
